  • Mexico Welcomes Large Numbers of Anglo-American immigrants
  • Hello. Welcome to Texas.
  • Thank you. 
  •  1835 New Dictator of Mexico
  • Sir, Yes, sir.
  • When ever you see a Texan with a gun disarm them!
  •  Battle of Gonzales
  • Come and Take it.
  • They welcomed them in hope they would become loyal citizens and they would not fall in the hands of the united states.  The immigrants did not adjust well. 
  •  Battle of the Alamo
  • Were in charge now
  • Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, overthrew the constitution and appointed himself dictator. , Santa Anna ordered the Mexican military to begin disarming the Texans whenever possible.
  • Battle of San Jacinto 
  • Will we get our land back
  • the growing tensions between Mexico and Texas erupt into violence when Mexican soldiers attempt to disarm the people of Gonzales, sparking the Texan war for independence. This was just the beginning of Texas getting there independence.  
  •  Texas Statehood
  • Texas will no longer be a slave state.
  •  Texan (or Texian) volunteers led by George Collinsworth and Benjamin Milam overwhelmed the Mexican garrison at the Alamo and captured the fort, seizing control of San Antonio.  Texans were in control. 
  • The Battle of San Jacinto lasted less than twenty minutes, but it sealed the fate of three republics. Mexicans could never regain the land they lost. 
  • Congress didn't want Texas to be come a slave state and make congress unbalanced.
