  • "A dog barks when his master is attacked, I would be a coward if I saw that God's truth is attacked and yet would remain silent."
  • John Calvin is the leading French Protestant reformer. He was born in 1509 in Noyan, France and became a scholar and theologian.
  • In his early years, John studied theology and went on to write many influential papers and books, the most popular being "institutes of the Christian Religion" which influenced many future reformers.
  • "Is it faith to known nothing, and merely submit your convictions implicitly to the church?"
  • Later on, John began to see that the Catholic church were abusing the power and trust that the people had given them, so he spoke up against the church and told anyone who would listen his ideas about protestant systematic theology.
  • To the Roman Catholics, In believing in the catholic church you are believing in the destruction of free will. The catholic church continues to abuse the power it has against the people. The holy water you place on the forehead of your child is now poison destroying all innocence - J.C

  • God controls everything, and we, nothing. From the day we are born our destiny is already decided for us by God. Only he knows whether we go to heaven or hell, and nothing you can do will change your fate
  • In 1533, John converted his religion from Roman Catholic to the Evangelical faith and was excommunicated from the Catholic church. Now a wanted man, he flees France and moves to Geneva.

  • In 1541, John sets up a theocracy in Geneva and creates his own religion, Calvinism, based on his doctrine of predestination and beliefs in the almighty power God has over all matters past, present and future.

  • During his time, John mad a powerful impact on the fundamental doctrines of Protestantism with his doctrine of predestination, written work (including pieces on free will written against a Roman Catholic theologian) and the theocractic society he began.
