  • Joe was a young boy that would sometimes steal potatoes for the survival of their small Family.
  • Joe Lived with his happy family in Ireland
  • But then there was a potato famine and his family died.
  • He earned enough money to buy a ticket to America by selling his family items
  • Because of the famine, he sailed to America. He was young so it was hard to earn money
  • The journey to America was hard and long. The boat ricked constantly at night and the weather was dreadful. They reached Ellis Island at night
  • There In America he made a living by selling potatoes in Michigan
  • First he began working in a potato farm but later earned enough money for his own potato farm
  • He spoke English fluently so that helped him get a job.
  • Then he got married. To a woman named Anne
  • They both lived in a nice home in Michigan. And lived happy ever after.
