  • The First Continental Congress took place in Philadelphia. 56 delegates attended the meeting. The meeting resulted in colonists continuing to boycott, having the colonial militias ready to fight, they made a list of rights to send to the king, and representatives will meet again if king doesn't agree within a year. 
  •  Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and John Adams as well as 2 other men created the Declaration of Independence which expressed their free rights. The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776. 
  • In 1783 the Treaty of Paris was signed by the representatives of King George III and representatives of the United States. The signing of this peace treaty ended the Revoulutionary War.
