The First Continental Congress took place in Philadelphia. 56 delegates attended the meeting. The meeting resulted in colonists continuing to boycott, having the colonial militias ready to fight, they made a list of rights to send to the king, and representatives will meet again if king doesn't agree within a year.
Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and John Adams as well as 2 other men created the Declaration of Independence which expressed their free rights. The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.
In 1783 the Treaty of Paris was signed by the representatives of King George III and representatives of the United States. The signing of this peace treaty ended the Revoulutionary War.
