I am using client centered therapy by listening to Sarah talk about her fear. This allows for self-confidence and helps build a connection with the patient.
I am very afraid of snakes and I need help.
I have decided to use an eclectic approach by using several different techniques.
Well a snake did kill my favorite dog when I was younger.
What do you think may have caused this phobia?
I am using the psychoanalysis part of psychodynamic therapy.
I am going to use a type of behavior therapy, which helps you learn to not be afraid.
I am going to use exposure therapy, in the form of systematic desensitization. I will progressively expose you to your fear.
Maybe once you're more comfortable we could use virtual reality exposure therapy to allow you to have the perspective of seeing a live snake.
