  • Matched pairs = no confounding variables Preliminary rating of aggression (0.89 reliability)
  • Bandura Et al wanted to study the observational learning of aggression, specifically if children would reproduce aggressive behaviour when a model wasnt there
  • Bandura used a smaple of 72 children in total, half were boys and the other half were girls, he was going to test if children would reproduce aggressive behaviour from a rodle model.
  • Bandura's experiment design was a lab experiment meaning that there are no extraneous variables, the indipendent variables were the sexes of the model and children. The children were rated befor the experiment to see their aggression levels so they could be placed in a matched pairs design
  • 12 boys and 12 girls were exposed to a aggressive model, six boys and six girls saw aggression from a same sex model while the rest saw aggression from an opposite sex model.
  • 12 boys and 12 girls were exposed to a non-aggressive model, six boys and six girls saw non-aggression from a same sex model while the rest saw non-aggression from an opposite sex model.
  • The final control group consisting of 12 boys and 12 girls didn't see a model display any behaviour, aggressive or otherwise.
