  • Journey To The Center Of The Earth
  • Eric Surgick
  • We are at the mantle. The mantle is a layer between the crust and the outer core. Also the mantle is a silicate rocky shell with an average thickness of 2,886 kilometers, and 84% of earth's total volume.
  • Mrs.Grier
  • Okay let's go, it's going to be fun.
  • Now we are at the outer core and it is getting hot. The outer core is the second to last layer of the earth. It is a magma like liquid layer that surrounds the inner core and creates earth's magnetic field. The outer core is 4,000 degrees Celsius and 2,200 kilometers thick. It is composed of iron and nickel.
  • Hey Miles let's travel on a Journey To The Center Of The Earth.
  • Cool let's go deeper.
  • Yes, it is very hot because we are at the inner core. The inner core is about 5,000 to 6,000 degrees Celsius. It melts all metal ores in the outer core causing it to turn into liquid magma. Also the inner core is the final layer of the earth. A solid ball made of metal 1,250 kilometers thick. It is the second smallest layer of the earth.
  • We are on the crust. It is the outermost shell of the terrestrial planet earth. The crust is made of solid rocks and minerals The temperature is 200 degrees Celsius. The moving of crust is called theory of tectonic plates.
  • Cool lots of information.
  • Awesome!
  • Wow , it is very hot!
