Storyboard Text

  • Hi I'm Lou Gehrig, and I will be teaching you about ALS
  • Some symptoms include: Trouble chewing and swallowing food Slight trouble of breathing
  • First of all, ALS stands for  Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The disease attacks your nerve cells in your brain.
  • These Nerve cells control your voluntary movements . The disease usually begins in a limb before moving on to other limbs
  • Some of the treatments include:  Supportive Care Medicines Surgery
  • ALS is difficult to diagnose early because it can mimic many other neurological diseases
  • People that have ALS usually burn calories faster than people that don't have ALS
  • That's about all I know about ALS but here's one more thing before I go, the disease is a progressive disease meaning the older you get, the worse the symptoms become
