  • The United States had control of Cuba which made Spain mad, because they wanted to own Cuba.
  • There was newspapers printed talking about the Spanish American war happening, which gave them another reason to go to war.
  • The USS Maine was sent to Cuba to protect the American Interest. When we went there, Spain sank the ship.
  • Cuba's schooling was very poor, United States tried helping them which made Spain mad.
  • Spain had to pay a lot of money to get trades from Cuba, but Cuba did not have to pay much to get trades from Spain
  • The United States signed the Treaty of Paris, which gave them control over Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico was owned by Spain.
