After the colonists settled and more and more people began to come to America, a war broke out between France and England called “The French and Indian War”
Eventually the war was over after the Treaty of Paris, however England was in debt and looked to taxing the Colonies to pay it off. They began taxing stamps, paper, tea and more.
They also tried to put a restriction of where the colonists could settle and banned them from going farther than the Appalachian Mountains.
To deal with these rebellions and make sure they get their money, England sent troops over to control the colonists, eventually leading to the Boston Massacre.
The unsettlement of the new taxes and restrictions led to the secret organization known as the sons of liberty, who began finding ways to riot against Britain. Their most famous exploit was the Boston Tea Party.
The first Continental Congress was formed in 1774 to establish the rights of colonists
