Torque and Rotation

Penelope was excited to attend a fancy gathering at a wealthy man's home. She needed a huge dress to fit the occasion, so she could catch the eye of the youngest military officer.
There were so many dresses to choose from but only one fit, and even it needed some alterations.
How am I to get into the carriage?!?
On the big night, Penelope ran into a little problem. Her dress, which she ordered to have extra layers, was way too heavy. She could barely move!
Penelope and her friends tried to lift her into the carriage for a very long time, but she was just too heavy. However, she was not completely out of options.
James Torque, a scientist who saves the day with physics, heard Penelope's cries, and came to the rescue. With him, he brought a wood plank and a base.
By placing the fulcrum closer to me, I am able to balance our torques, allowing me to lift her, even though she weighs much more than me.
James Torque saved the day using the power of torque and his knowledge of physics. The notable hero not only helped Penelope get to the party, but helped her meet the man of her dreams.
