This gives Nick a great idea. He started calling a pen a frindle. the idea spread. Kids in his grade were using the word frindle instead of pen.
Mrs. Granger was annoyed. She put kid in attention for using the word frindle.
A rich man in town named Bud Lawrence got a trademark on the word frindle so he could make pens and shirt sand other stuff to sell. He got Nick's dad to agree to give 30% of the profits to Nick.
Nick's dad set up a trust fund where all the money would go. Ten years later when Nick was a junior in college, he turned 21 years old. The trust fund was now his. The Nick was VERY rich.
That same Fall, Nick got a package from Mrs. Granger. In the package was a brand new dictionary. She told him to turn to page 541. The word frindle was now part of the dictionary. Mrs. Granger was very proud of him.
Nick set up a 1 million dollar scholarship in Mrs. Granger's name. Nick also sent Mrs. Granger a new gold pen.
