Polonius betraying his son
Polonius is asking someone to spy on his son, while spreading rumors about him, just to see if people agree or not. The idea is to say bad things about Laertes to see if people second the things that are said. This is betrayal because he is slandering his own son.
I would like you to spy on my son... see what he's up to.
You got it dude.
And while you're at it, spread some rumors about him too. Make him look bad.
...but my dude, that's disrespectful.
No no its cool. We just need to see if people agree when we tell them he's awful. It'll be fine.
Oh you right. Cool. I'll go talk mad smack about your son for you.
