  • The play Romeo and Juliet starts off with two characters ( Sampson and Gregory) fighting in the streets of Verona. Both men are fighting out of hatred in front of many towns people and are disturbing the peace. This scene is important to the play because it demonstrates that both families ( Capulet"s and Montague's) are both warring families that have never gotten along.
  • In this scene Juliet, who is just 13 is accompanied by her Mom and the Nurse who has taken care of her since she was born. Juliet's mom is trying to explain to Juliet that she needs to get married soon and that marriage is a wonderful thing. Juliet on the other hand was not interested in Paris, the man Juliet,s parents wanted her to wed and she wanted to marry a guy she falls in love with.
  • As the result of Juliet's parents wanting Juliet to get married her father holds a masquerade where Paris can woo her. As the party starts Romeo a young man from the Montague family enters the party looking for the girl of his dream, Rosaline. As he made his way through the party he gets noticed by one of the cousins, Tybalt, who changes Romeo. However Capulet ( Juliet's Dad) intervened and let Romeo stay. Romeo continued to look for Rosaline, until he see Juliet and falls in love.
