  • Is Romeo slaughter'd, and is Tybalt dead? My dear-loved cousin, and my dearer lord? Then, dreadful trumpet, sound the general doom! For who is living, if those two are gone?

  • Spakest thou of Juliet? how is it with her? Doth she not think me an old murderer, Now I have stain'd the childhood of our joy With blood removed but little from her own? Where is she? and how doth she? and what says My conceal'd lady to our cancell'd love?
  • Lord Capulet decides to let Paris marry Juliet. He believes Juliet is upset about Tybalt's death and getting married will help. It is Monday when he decides this and says the wedding will take place on Thursday. He assures Paris that Juliet will want to get married to Paris.
  • Romeo says his goodbye to Juliet and leaves. Lady Capulet sees Juliet crying and thinks she is still upset about Tybalt. She tells Juliet that Juliet is to marry Paris. Juliet says she will not marry him. Lord Capulet hears and tells Juliet she will marry him or he will disown her.
  • I pray you, tell my lord and father, madam, I will not marry yet; and, when I do, I swear, It shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate, Rather than Paris. These are news indeed!
