  • Kino and Juana are living as peasants normally. One day Coyotito, their baby gets bit by a scorpion. The doctor won't help them as they are poor.
  • Falling Action: Sad, Gloomy
  • They go to the Gulf of Mexico to hunt for a pearl to afford Coyotito's treatment and they find a huge pearl. They celebrate with their neighbors in their house.
  • Resolution: Hopeless, Angry
  • Kino tries to sell the pearl. Buyers only offer 1500 pesos and he doesn't accept that.  That night, Kino stops Juana from throwing the pearl away and kills a man. The next day, when they are going to the capital, trackers are behind them so they lead the trackers to the mountains. There, Kino kills all three of the trackers, but one tracker kills Coyotito.
  • Never!
  • Let's throw the Pearl!
  • Kino and Juana return to their city. Everyone stares at them as they walk around the city.
  • They go to the shore and they throw the pearl back into the sea. Kino can hear the song of the evil coming from it as it sinks to the bottom of the water.
