  • Riel flees to the United States after soldiers arrive in Manitoba
  • The Federal Government sends 1200 soldiers to Manitoba to keep the peace. However, many soldiers believe they were supposed to punish Riel. Riel knew the danger he was in and fled to the U.S.A.
  • We want our concerns to be heard!
  • The Metis' concerns are ignored by the Federal Government
  • We want equality!

  • Gabriel Dumont invites Louis Riel back to Canada to lead the Metis
  • We need you to lead the Metis against the government!
  • The Metis take up arms however, are overwhelmed and arrested by government forces at Batoche
  • Louis Riel is sentenced to death after being found guilty for treason
  • Louis Riel has been found guilty of treason. The penalty is death!
  • Louis Riel is hung for treason. Many people still debate if this act was justifiable
