Storyboard Text

  • Hey, did you hear about the Louisiana Purchase?
  • The what?
  • The Louisiana Purchase! The U.S. bought the whole Louisiana Territory from the French!
  • Oh yeah! We bought it from them because we wanted to expand how much land we had! Napoleon sold it to us because they were already losing territory and were currently losing a war with the English.
  • Correct! It was a lot of money too, around 15 million dollars!
  • That is a lot of money! Then again, we purchased 827,000 square miles of land!
  • Yes, that's true. Though Jefferson was hesitant about buying it.
  • Really? Why's that?
  • Well, buying the land would go against his principles of a smaller central government. Technically, he shouldn't have been able to buy it. But he decided it owuld be better for the country's future! So he found a loophole around it.
  • That's great! The country has more than doubled in size, hopefully, it really will do well for our country.
  • THE END
