Pablo lives in Honduras! He owns a barbershop and is a very good barber! He likes his life as a barber and being free.
One day, Pablo fell out with one of his customers, that happened to be a powerful gang member. Pablo knew he had to leave before he might get hurt. That is something that pushed him out of Honduras. His mother gave him money and he left with his partner the next day.
He did not want to leave his life in Honduras, but he had to do it for his own safety. In the other part of the country, he could start a new life without being hunted down.
Pablo was stopped by border agents and was detained. But there was too much danger to stay in Honduras, so he was determined to try again. His mother scraped together some more money and wished him luck.
This time Pablo was careful. With some tips from other migrants, Pablo avoided border patrol officers and reach one of the Palenque's migrant shelters. They also approached Asylum Access Mexico for help in applying for asylum. Once Pablo and his partner arrived, they were barely scraping by. Pablo was being underpaid by his boss because he is "illegal". Then came a lucky break.
Almost daily he would stop to pick up a few groceries and chat with the shopkeeper. She regularly asked why he didn’t own his own barbershop. He replied he didn’t have the funds for it. One day when he arrived at her store she simply handed him the sum he needed. A loan of 8,000 pesos ($420 USD). His recently opened shop was thriving. He even started repaying his debt. He hopes to bring his mother and sister to mexico soon to enjoy his success.
