Storyboard Text

  • Early Monday Morning...
  • Sure I can help you, but since we don't have a lot of time before school starts, I'll tell you the 3 biggest factors that led us into war.
  • Hi Mr. Alfonso! I don't understand why we fought in the Civil War and was hoping you could help me. Can you?
  • The Compromise of 1850
  • The Compromise of 1850 gave the states in the south west territory the right to vote whether they wanted to be free or slave states. They later extended this to Kansas and Nebraska Leading to the Kansas and Nebraska Act.
  • Oh so they basically got rid of the Missouri Compromise, and what is the Kansas Nebraska Act?
  • Kansas Nebraska Act
  • Wow! That shows how important it is to have I.D to show where you live when voting
  • The Kansas Nebraska Act or "Bleeding Kansas" was about the voting of whether Kansas Should Be a free or slave state since Nebraska was a definite free state. People Were Coming into Kansas to vote and there was a lot of violence and bleeding along the way, hence "Bleeding Kansas"
  • Little Sammy doesn't understand what led us into the Civil War and has gone to his History teacher for extra help so he can pass his test later
  • The Fugitive Slave Act
  • The Fugitive Slave Act is an unfair and Cruel Act that angered free states and African Americans. This Act meant that any free black man or woman in the North could be claimed an "escaped slave from the south" even if you weren't you would have to prove it in court and that could take 12 years to process.
  •
  • Lincoln's Election
  • Lincoln was elected November 6, 1860 this caused a lot of heat because Lincolns Election caused the Confederate States of America to Start.
  •
  • Lincoln's Election
  • Thank you so much now I understand How the civil war started!!
  •
  • OMG?! I cant believe that was legal! How could they get away with this?!
  •
  • What were the Confederate States of America and why did Lincolns election cause heat?
  • The Confederate states were formed by almost all slave states with an exception of a few. They left the U.S because of the fact that Lincoln became president, they didn't trust him so one by one they left. Once they were the Confederacy, The U.S had troops on their land Fort Sumner the Confederates forced them out starting the Civil war.
  • Little Sammy went on to get an A on his test and he couldn't be happier.
