  • "Say, what the hell you doin' listenin'?" The old man came slowly into the room. He had his broom in his hand. And at his heels there walked a drag-footed sheepdog, grey of muzzle, and with pale, blind old eyes.   Pg.24
  •   "Sometimes Curley's in here," she explained. George said brusquely ,"Well he ain't now" "If he ain't, I guess I better look someplace else," she said playfully. Lennie watched her, fascinated. George said, "If I see him I'll pass the word you was looking for him she smiled archly and twitched her body. "Nobody can't blame a person for lookin'," she said.    Pg.31
  • George put down his cards very deliberately. "Lennie," he said sharply. Lennie twisted his neck and looked over his shoulder. "Huh? what you George?" I tol' you you couldn't bring that pup in here."     Pg.42
