What are the FIVE STEPS OF PROGRAMMING ? by Ethan Suchanoff
Part 1 - Requirements What is needed to be part of the fix ? What's your program designed for? Who'll be using it Examine the data to make sure the program can handle the data requirements
Step one is to identify the solution, this is because you're trying to figure out what you're trying to achieve. There are two parts to this step.
Part 2 - Specifications What does your program need to do to reach these requirements? Determine the needs of the user.
A solution method is broken down into smaller sub-problems, which are then broken down again, and they keep getting broken down until each sub problem can be solved in a few steps. Most frequently used design in the programming process is called Top Down Design (logical hierarchical an upside down pyramid).
