It is midnight, in bleak December, and a man is reading one of his many books in his chamber, alone.
The man yearns over seeing his maiden Lenore, once more.
Why are you ignoring my commands? I give up! I just want to see Lenore once more.
The man hears a rapping at his chamber door, however, when he opens the door, there is darkness. He then hears a knock on his window. When he opens the lattice, the bird flutters in suddenly, and perches above his chamber door.
He asks the bird if he would see Lenore once more, but the bird replies nevermore, which sends the man into a frenzy trying to get the bird to dismiss himself from the mans chamber.
How could you? You are the most cruel creature I've ever seen! Leave at once! NOW!
The bird ignores the mans attempts to get itself to leave, so the man gives up.
The raven sits quietly on his perch, and the man sits quietly in his chair. All is well.
