Storyboard Text

  • Stamp Act Congress - 1765
  • We need to do something about these acts, they are outrageous!
  • Boston Massacre - 1770
  • First Continental Congress - 1774
  • You need to realize that the British are affecting us all!
  • What should we do about this?
  • Here is when the colonists formed together and sent a letter to the king that said, "No Taxation without Representation", they were responded with the continuation of taxes until the colonists boycotted the British.
  • Shot Heard Around the World - 1775
  • This was the first actual conflict/fight between the British and colonists, it also opened up opportunities for propaganda and to make the British look bad.
  • Second Continental Congress - 1775
  • We're loyalists! You should be too, this your country you are fighting and killing!
  • Just in case they take the last battle the wrong way, we need to prepare!
  • Was when all the colonies realized that the British are affecting everyone and actually had to do something about all these acts that was not protesting (because that did not work before).
  • Common Sense - 1776
  • Have you heard about this book called Common Sense? It's by Thomas Paine and I think we should talk about it later. I'm sick of the British ruling us.
  •  Was the first real battle/skirmish between the British and colonists, this resulted in huge conflict and real war between the two.
  • Sir, there's more colonists than we expected! Retreat!
  • At this time, half of the colonists wanted war and the other half wanted peace, The British responded with war because the colonists already attacked and had a militia formed.
  • We at least need to show someway of showing we want peace, let's at least send an Olive Branch Petition!
  • Common Sense was published by Thomas Paine which highly influenced colonists to join the militia or protest against the British.
