Storyboard of the plot of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Masque of Red Death"
Prince Prosepero takes himself and 1000 of his friends to live in seclusion and allow the world to toil with the "Red Death" an epidemic that has already ravaged half of the prince's subjects
The Manor in which the prince and his friends lived was one with seven main rooms each with its own color theme that was lit with light of that rooms theme color. The most peculiar of the rooms was not lit with its own color which was black but rather with a blood red hue.
Among the Blood Red room was a large clock made of ebony that's bell rings every hour on the hour. The bell of the clock when struck made such a loud and peculiar sound that it demanded the attention of anyone who heard it. All the entertainers within the manor would pause what they were doing as to wait for the ring to end.
All was well at the manor until one night a figure clad in head to toe black appeared and the prince proclaimed.
Who dares insult us with this blasphemous mockery? Seize him and unmask him that we may know whom we have to hang at sunrise.
After noone in the manor would make a move out of fear the prince took matters into his own hands. The prince charged towards the figure with a knife in hand and as the figure reached the Blood Red room he turned and the prince was the one who fell to the floor dead.
Upon the death of the prince the other inhabitants of the manor charged together at the figure in black as to tear off his cloth and mask as to discover who this person was
Upon removing the robes of the black figure it is discovered that there is nothing beneath them. The black figure was a representation of death itself even though these people ran from the plague no matter how rich or poor death comes for all.
