  • Lesson 2
  • Written and Illustrated by: Ethan Lobo
  • The Commercial Revolution
  • I'm off to the new Bank. After, I might visit the new Market. I hear it's quite popular.
  • Yes, the market has been quite busy since it opened. All these improvements in our economy have really helped us.
  • The Columbian Exchange
  • Although trading with Africa, Europe and Asia has given us much food, and other necessities, it is also bringing many diseases. Many have died already.
  • European Rivals in the East
  • We must advance on India now, before the Dutch or French take it from us.
  • My Lord, I have received word that our enemies in the east have taken more land in Asia
  • The Atlantic Slave Trade Sources of Enslaved Africans
  • Yes, many rulers in Africa have started to try and stop these merchants from selling their natives
  • I just bought these new slaves from that Merchant down south for 100 gold each. He told me that slaves are getting more expensive  as the need increases.
  • Impact of the Atlantic Slave Trade
  • It's a shame how we have to suffer while everyone we work for thrives.
  • I've heard that our families back home have started to suffer since more and more of our physically fit men have been brought here.
