once in a land called Crete long ago many ships sailed to the mainland of Athens to demand the King send over 7 men and 7 women. if they didnt the King Minos would call war upon Athens.
When the ships came to Athens King Aegues did what he had to do. he sent 14 Athenian people on the ships to Crete.
Back at King Aegues's castle his son Prince Theseus asked his father a very important question.
Son that is because if we dont send them we will be in a war that we cannot win. and they never come back because they are not slaves they are food for the minotaur.
Father how come we keep sending people to Crete and they never come back?
The next year Theseus ran up to the shore and left on the ship in place of a man.
Wait! i must go in someones place
When Theseus got to the treacherous labyrinth he met Ariadne Princess of Crete. she gave him a gift of yarn to find his way back out of her fathers labyrinth.
I give you this as a gift for you to escape
I thank you Ariadne
But it did not take long for theseus to find his foe The Minotaur. They fought for a long time before theseus finally defeated the minotaur and escaped the labyrinth.
