  • Ordinary World
  • Call to Adventure
  • Refusal to Call
  • This is Perseus. He was found by a man named Dictys, and he took Danae and Perseus to his home where he and his wife cared for them gladly for they were childless. Perseus grew into a strong young man and became a fisherman on this small island.
  • Meeting with the Mentor
  • Polydectes invited Perseus to his wedding where he asked everyone to get a wedding gift. Perseus was poor so he couldn't get anything. He asked Polydectes what he get them. He had asked him to get the head of Medusa.
  • Crossing the Threshold
  • Perseus was reluctant because he was trapped by his bold promise, even though he knew that this feat was impossible for one man alone. Medusa was one of the three Gorgons- huge, hideous winged creatures. their hair was made of snakes, and their faces were so ugly that anyone who looked at them immediately turned to stone.
  • Tests, Allies, & Enemies
  • Athena flew down from Mount Olympus and gave Perseus the shield of brass. After thanking Athena, Hermes flew the messenger of the gods to give Perseus a sword that could never be broken. Hermes then gave Perseus directions to the Gray land.
  • Perseus reached the gray women and and watched them as they were sitting in a circle passing the eye around, when he darted out and snatched the eye. The gray women ran around blindly shouting. The gray women immediately gave Perseus directions to the Nymphs.
  • Perseus traveled far and long, this time over the ocean to meet with the Nymphs of the North. There, he received three gifts Hermes said he'd receive. He got the cap of invisibility, a magic wallet, and winged sandals which he used to get to the island of the Gorgons.
