Storyboard Text

  • Iron is a chemical element with symbol Fe and atomic number 26. It is a metal in the first transition series. It is by mass the most common element on Earth, forming much of Earth's outer and inner core. It is the fourth most common element in the Earth's crust.
  • Hi, I'm Iron.
  • Magnesium + Oxygen ---> Magnesium Oxide
  • Oxygen is a chemical element with symbol O and atomic number 8. It is a member of the chalcogen group on the periodic table, a highly reactive nonmetal, and an oxidising agent that readily forms oxides with most elements as well as with other compounds. By mass, oxygen is the third-most abundant element in the universe, after hydrogen and helium.
  • Hello, My Name is Oxygen.
  • Iron + Oxygen ---> Iron Oxide
  • Together, they are Iron Oxide.
  • However, Oxygen prefers Magnesium and chooses to partner with him instead.
  • Mg
  • Hey, I am Magnesium.
  • Together, they are Magnesium Oxide.
  • Due to the higher reactivity of the Magnesium, because of the reactivity series, Magnesium replaces Iron.
  • Mass is always conserved, and the contents will stay the same throughout the reaction.
