Storyboard Text

  • Hi, my name is King James I and I am an absolute monarch, I have full control over the government and I have dissolved parliament to maintain my power
  • This is an image of multiple protestors standin outside of James I's castle. These protesters have gathered here as they have become frustrated with how James has been ruling, and he has been causing issues with the Puritans, foreign policy, and money.
  • James died not too long after he began his rule, however his son Charles I took the throne soon after and started to make new changes, for the better.
  • Charles I was a continuation of James' rule, but with slight alterations. He continued the absolute monarch, but he recalled parliament, something James I dissolved during his rule
  • With Parliament being brought back, the Petiton of Right was forced to be created and signed. The Petition of Right was a very democratic document, as many of the ideas and rules behind it had democratic rules such a challenging the divine right of the kings, basically taking away power from the king, and giving it back to the people.
