The Consumer Product Safety Commission was established in 1972. They were established to provide minimum safety standards on consumer products. If a product was found defective, the CPSC has the authority to force the manufacturer to recall the product. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Note7 - the lithium battery was known to overheat and catch fire, being a safety hazard for people. Over 1.9 million phones were recalled on September 15, 2015 because of the problem.

We are sorry to inform but the CPSC has issued a recall due to the issue of Samsung Galaxy Note7 Lithium Batteries overheating and catching fire. They are believed to be a safety hazard and can cause harm to people. Please power down your Samsung device and contact your wireless carrier to either receive a refund or free exchange, otherwise it will be at your own responsibility to obtain another device. Samsung
