Federigo welcome Monna into his home humbly then led her into his Garden. Federigo then left Monna into his Garden to look for something to offer to the gracious lady-Monna.
desperate to offer something that will honor the gracious lady, he decided to slaughtered his good falcon for he thought that this would be a worthy food for Monna.
after he slaughtered his falcon, Federigo asked his servant to roast it with care. he set up the table with the whitest of tablecloths he had left then Federigo returned to his garden gleefully telling Monna that the meal he prepared for her was ready.
Federigo together with Monna went to the table and they ate the roasted falcon without Monna knowing what it was they were eating.

while they were having a good conversation, Monna thought it was time now to tell Federigo what she had come to say. Monna then began to explain to Federigo about her dying son and his wish of having his Falcon
