Abigail and the other girls are copying Mary Warren, and convincing the court that Mary spirit is controlling them. This is Hysteria because the girls are getting the court to believe she is a witch so that they are not accused of being witches themselves. This is a common theme in the book because everyone was accusing everyone of being a witch to try to protect themselves.
"Ill cut off my hand before it reaches for you again"
Proctor decides to go to the gallows and be hanged and not give up his good name. In a way, he and his wife thought about it as a way of redeeming himself for his sins (cheating on Elizabeth).

John has a bad history with Abigail. He originally told Elizabeth that they were not alone. He now reveals to her that they were alone in a room. This lie makes Elizabeth skeptical due to the fact that they had an affair.
Abigail is jealous of Elizabeth and wants John to herself. She decides to accuse Elizabeth of witchcraft so that she has a chance to be with John. This is revenge because she is trying to ruin Elizabeth in order to have John.
Proctor and Abigail are alone and talking, Abigail seems to be looking "feverish with desire". Proctor denies her several times before falling into his lust and telling her that he thinks of her softly from time to time.
John originally signs the paper, giving up his good name in the town. Once they tell him that they need it to post on the door of the church, he starts to have second thoughts. He decides to go to the allows and hand, dying with his pride and good name, then giving up his good name to a lie.
