A good Samaritan was coming down the road on his donkey. When he saw the injured man on the side of the road he took pity on him. The good Samaritan poured oil and wine on the man's wounds and then bandaged them up. After that, he put him on his donkey and took him to an inn nearby to look after him.

You poor man, I will help you.
The next day the good Samaritan gave two denarii to the inn keeper so he could look after him while he was gone.
Yes, I will take very good care of him. Thank you.
Take care of him; and when I come back, I will repay you whatever more you spend.
After telling the story, Jesus then asked him the question again and this time the lawyer got it right and he now knew how to inherit eternal life.
