  • The crazy man decided to take the life of the old man for he had an eye like a vulture that made his blood run cold.
  • Exposition
  • Climax
  • I will take the life of the old man to rid myself of the eye forever.
  • I was never kinder to the old man than the whole week before I killed him. Every night at midnight I turned the latch on his door oh so gently and thrustmy head in so slowly.I then placed the lantern in and so cautiously undid the lanternso that a single ray of light fell on the vulture eye.
  • Rising Action
  • Z z
  • Falling Action
  • Upon the eighth night I was more than usually cautious in opening the door and my thoughts made me chuckle and the old man might have heard me for he moved on the bed as if startled.startled. You would think that I drew back but no for his room was black as pitch. I had my head in and was about to open the lantern when my thumb slipped upon the tin fastening, and the old man cried out, "Who's there?"
  • Resolution
  • Conflict
  • With a loud yell threw the lantern open and leaped into the room. The old man shrieked once and then I had threw him to the ground and dragged the heavy bed over him. Then when his heart had stopped beating I removed three planks from the flooring of the chamber and and deposited all between the scantlings. I then replaced the board so cleverly no one not even the old man could have detected something wrong.
  • As the bell sounded for the hour there came a knocking at the door. I went to open it with a light heart. There entered three police men. They explained why they came at once. A shriek had been heard by the neighbors in the night suspicion of foul play had been aroused and the police officers had been sent to search the premises.
  • The shriek was my own in a dream.
  • The officers were satisfied. My manner had convinced them. I was singularly at ease. We chatted of familiar things but after a while I wished them gone. There was a ringing in my ears. But still they sat and chatted the ringing became more distinct.then I found the ringing was not in my ears. It was the sound of a whatch enveloped in cotton.the ringing grew louder and louder.I felt I must scream or die!
  • Villians! I shrieked," dissemble no more! I admit the deed! Tear up the planks! here, here it is the beating of his hideous heart.
