  • Kino and Juana are living peacefully at La Paz. In the early morning Kino goes out their hut and goes onto the beach to watches the waves. While watching the waves he hears the song of family meaning every thing was calm, peaceful, happy, and that nothing was wrong. 
  • Climax
  • Coyotito got stung by a scorpion and Juana was quick to aid him with no sign of fear. She wants to take him to the doctor but they do not have enough money to meet the doctor's greedy needs.
  • Falling Action
  • Juana and Kino find an amazing pearl. Kino thinks of all the things he will do with the pearl like Juana and him getting married in the church, having new clothes, and getting Coyotito an education. Soon everyone hears about his amazing pearl and try to steal it and try take advantage of Kino.
  • Resolution
  • Juana tries to throw the pearl back into the sea, but Kino caught up to her before she could. Then a man tried to steal the pearl and attacked Kino. He killed the man by self defense but knew the people wouldn't believe that. Their hut caught on fire and their canoe was broken.
  • Kino, Juana, and Coyotito flee to the mountains being followed by trackers. While hiding in the night Kino kills the trackers but they shot Coyotito in the head.
  • Juana and KIno return to La Paz and Kino throws the pearl back into the sea.
