  • ORDINARY WORLD
  • CALL TO ADVENTURE
  • You're amazing man!
  • I can teach you if you want! But Maverick is very dangerous and you will need a lot of training!
  • REFUSAL
  • Jay Moriarity is a young boy of 16 years old, living in a small town in California. His father left him when he was 9 years old and Jay now leaves alone with his mother. His mother always had troubles with alcohol and never knew how do deal with a child and all the bills she had to pay. This is why Jay quickly had to learn how to take care of himself as well as his mother. Beside school and homework, in order to get his mind off "adult's things", Jay spends most of his time surfing with his best friend, Sonny, or at the skate park.
  • One day, at the beach, Jay saw the best surfer he ever met. This 30 years old guy was sliding on the waves like no one else and Jay couldn't take his eyes off him. When the guy came out off the water, Jay ran into him and told him that one day, he would be as good as him and that he would surf the biggest waves in the world, that was his biggest dream. The surfer, Frosty Hesson, found that funny and immediately liked Jay and his determination. He explained him that the biggest wave of California is called Mavericks and is one of the most dangerous wave in the world. Frosty told Jay that if he felt confident enough to surf a wave as big as Mavericks, he would teach him.
  • Jay was so determined and was ready to do anything to achieve this goal. Nevertheless, his mother disagreed and knew this was far too dangerous for a 16 years old boy so she refused to let Jay train with Frosty. But, seeing Jay devastated and realizing that Frosty would help Jay, she finally agreed and Jay started training with his new mentor, Frosty Hesson.
