  • “Where there are pistol shots, there are men. Where there are men, there is food." I wonder who lives at the fortress...
  • Conflict: After discussing the sport of hunting, Rainsford is informed by the owner, General Zaroff, that the owner hunts "the most dangerous game."
  • “Hunting? Great Guns, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder.” Human lives have value, you are killing men!
  • "Every day I hunt, and I never grow bored now, for I have a quarry with which I can match my wits.” I HUNT HUMANS...

  • “I see. Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford.”
