Storyboard Text

  • Storming the Bastille.
  • A large crowed stormed the Bastille because people were angry that Louis XVI was threatening to arrest the leaders of the National Assembly.
  • In August 1789, the National Assembly made the Declaration of the Rights of Man, and they reformed the legal system.
  • The Declaration of the Rights of Man gave people rights such as freedom of religion, speech, and press.
  • Austria and Russia join forces with France to fight against Britain, Spain, and Holland.
  • These countries went to war with each other to aid and attack the royal family.
  • The Jacobin leaders turned against each other. Anyone who was suspected to oppose the committee was arrested. 
  • The leaders turned against each other because one of the leaders were aiding the enemies of France.
  • The French were running out of money because of corruption and inefficiency of The Directory and because of the wars Louis XVI started. 
  • The Napoleonic Era was the rise of French power in Europe.
