  • Northern Free States: Feelings About State Additions
  • We are ok with the line, but we wish all states could be free!
  • Northern Free States: Feelings about the 36°30′ line?
  • OH BOY, we get more land!
  • Northern Free States: Who was involved?
  • My name is John
  • Hi, I'm Dewitt
  • The North felt that all the new state additions should be free states, but they were alright with the states being split 50/50.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about state additions?
  • The North was very happy when the line was drawn between North and South, because they ended up getting a lot more room for adding free states.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about the 36°30′ line?
  • The Northern congressmen involved in the debate that lead to the compromise were John W Taylor and Dewitt Clinton.
  • Southern Slave States: Who was involved?
  • The South felt it was kind of fair when they learned that Missouri was a slave state and Maine was a free states, because there will be continued balance between free and slave states.
  • Balance is ok, I guess.
  • Southern states were pretty unhappy with the the 36, 30' line, because the North got a whole lot more unorganized land than the South, which they could use to make more free states.
  • Why should the North get more land??
  • The Southern congressmen involved in the debate that lead to the compromise were Henry Clay and John C Calhoun.
  • Hey, it's your boy Clay
  • Hi, I'm Calhoun
