Rhea Silvia birthed two sons, Romus and Ramus. She though the pregnancy was from divine conception. King Amulius threw the sons out into a river, in order to not receive wrath from the gods.

The River god Tibernus saved the children, the two boys then grew up as Shepards. Later they killed the king that threw them into the river.
Death of Romulus
Romulus starts his own city, first by building its walls. When Remus jumps over his wall, Romulus takes it as an insult and he kills Romulus.
A Man or Myth?
Romulus named the city Roma, after himself. Because of the small population of women, versus the men, the people of Roma abducted women from other nearby cities and marry them. Another city's citadel commander promises to give his daughter to them, the Romans crush her with their shields instead.
In one myth , he suddenly went missing in a whirlwind. Another says he ascended to the heavens.
Most scholars belive the characters may have some historical foundation, but much of them is heavily based in fiction. The only thing they know for sure is that the ancients immensely cared for this story.
