What will I do there is missiles in Cuba, that is too close to the US
The Berlin Airlift was caused by the Soviet Union putting up a border around the capital of Germany. People were cut off from supplies they needed so the US and their allies would drop supplies over Berlin. This is important because it was the highest tension in the war. This picture represents the people getting supplies from the planes.
Vietnam soldiers would use guerilla warfare and hide so they could surprise their enemies. The Vietnam war happened because the nation was split up into the communist north and the democratic south; and the communist tried to invade South Vietnam. This war was important because it proved that the US couldn't help everyone and that communism was spreading.
Space and Arms Race
Ha ha ha we beat the Soviets, we win!
The cuban missile crisis was the highest tension in the cold war. The president put a naval blockade around Cuba, while demanding that the Soviets take out the missiles they put in Cuba. The US had missiles in Turkey and Italy so we made a deal with the Soviets. We took our missiles out of Turkey and Italy and they took theirs out of Cuba. This was important because if the president didn't make the right choice there could have been WW3.
The Fall of the Soviet Union
Did you hear, the wall has fallen we are free!
Korea was split up into two parts North Korea and South Korea. The communist of North Korea tried to invade the South with the help of the USSR and China. America sent troops to the South Korea helping them fight back. The North failed to invade the South and is forced into a cease fire. This war was important because North Korea failed to invade the South and there is still a cease fire today.
I'm throwing a grenade
Watch out the Koreans are getting too close!
America and the Soviet union, both superpowers were in a competition with each other to see who was the best. Both superpowers were tying to have a stronger military and get to space. The superpowers already had military programs but nothing in space. The US created NASA while the USSR launched the fist satellite. The US then put the first man on the moon winning the Space and Arms Race. This is important because it shows how vital it was too countries to be powerful.
Because the satellite sates left the Soviet Union and the Berlin wall fell the Soviet Union collapsed and became Russia. This event was important because it let the people of Berlin finally unite and they were set free. It is also important because it made sure that communism wouldn't spread anymore.
