This comic strip displays the relationship between the Celts and the Romans. The Romans wanted something from Britain but had to go through the Celts first. They try to negotiate and make a compromise but the Romans have trouble being loyal.
Around 2,000 years ago, Britain was ruled by a tribe called the Celts. They felt that they would always rule.
We will rule Britain forever!
Then in AD 43 the Roman Army landed in Kent. They wanted Britain's precious metals and killed anyone that stood in their way.
Now we must go find those metals!
They took the land of the Celts and built forts and new settlements. They made the Celts pay taxes and obey their laws.
Time to pay your taxes!
The Celts grew tired of the Roman laws, taxing and taking their land. Queen Boudicca of the Iceni tribe pretended to be friends with the Romans but secretly was gathering a huge army to fight the Romans and burn their towns.
You must defeat them! Get rid of every one of them!
The day came and the Celts fought hard. The Romans fought back and it was a fierce battle.
We can do it without the help of Queen Boudicca!
You will never get our metals!
Although the Roman army was smaller, in the end, they were better trained, and had better armor, so they won.
