Appropriate Messaging

Storyboard Text

  • What's up?
  • Taking my lunch break. You?
  • Hi, bf!
  • Hey, bae!
  • Talking online can be a great way to stay in contact with friends, family, or significant others, especially while we are learning virtually.
  • What are you doing?
  • Hey...
  • Hi...
  • It is important that we only message other people during appropriate times. Some appropriate times are during breaks at school or appropriate hours after school.
  • Do I know you?
  • Hey... you're cute.
  • We can use technology to message our boyfriends, girlfriends, or people that we like.
  • You should sneak out of your house to come meet me.
  • *$#%!
  • Messaging should only continue when both people want to keep talking. It is considered inappropriate to keep messaging people who do not respond or to continue to message someone who has asked you to stop.
  • We should only message people who we know personally or know in real life. You never know who someone is behind a screen.
  • You should only send messages that you are okay with your family or your teachers seeing. Remember- your devices are monitored!
