Wheat farming is a little difficult, but nothing that I can't handle!
We are Haley's parents!
We are finally going to Washington to get better jobs! He found a pamphlet at the railroad!
Off we go!
Hi. My name is Haley! I am 11. My family and I have been wheat farmers since I was born. We live in Kansas!
Our job is super important! Without us, there would be no crops!
One day when we were farming my dad came running back telling us about Washington. He said "Since Washington was largely undeveloped, there were innumerable business opportunities." He also said "They needed more people to come to washington" This meant that we were going to Washington to get better jobs!
I love our tractor!
We packed up all of our things and we left on the oregon trail.
I like farming. It gets hard at some points, were together as a family and that's all that matters.
After the long journey to Washington we became irrigation workers. Our job is super important because we bring water to all the crops. In Eastern Washington irrigation allowed for the cultivation of fruits and vegetables.
Time passed and we were still irrigation workers. Everyday we would bring water to the crops. But one day, we came across something that would make the job so much easier. We found a tractor! Since we found the tractor, we have finished our job in half the time!
By us now having a tractor and equipment that allows us to extend the crop sizes, it reduced the amount of labor and people needed to run the farm. Some people left, but we decided to stay.
