  • In 1870s, Carnegie co-founded his first Steel Factory, and a Few decades later he created a massive Steel Empire. In 1892, his main company was the Carnegie Steel Company. Though he had a good reputation, it was all ruined

  • When the Chairman and Chief Executive (Henry Clay Frick) wanted to cut workers wages at the plant in Homestead, which the workers did not like, so they held a strike based on a vote. Private security guards were hired to come remove them from the strike so that new people couldn't come to work. 12 people were killed in the process of removing the people on Strike. Andrew Carnegie was on vacation during this, but he got the blame because its his company.

  • After selling his Steel Company, Andrew Carnegie retired and he devoted the rest of his life to being a Philanthropist. He also wrote an essay, that was named "The Gospel of Wealth", in which he said that that the rich have “a moral obligation to distribute [their money] in ways that promote the welfare and happiness of the common man." In his life time, he gave away $350 million dollars (Billions in todays money) and helped make many other things such as Carnegie Hall.
