Storyboard Text

  • Welcome to the jungle! I observed many changes in Tanzania. Many people believed I was a leader when I came out here with the chimpanzees.
  • ¨She gave the chimpanzees names and watched how they behaved. She kept careful notes of their behavior and relationships¨(Kids Infobits 4)
  • “Some of the changes she saw over the years saddened her. The land around the park was hurt by mining, deforestation, and erosion by the communities living there. This made her worry about the future of the chimps living at Gombe. She wondered what the human impact would have on the chimp communities. Goodall decided to get involved” (Gale In Context: Middle School).
  • I started to see changes over the year and they hurt me. I was worried of what impact these changes would make on the chimps. I decided to do something about it.
  • “But Jane was defiant; she was writing about animals who had become her dear friends and that's the way she would always treat them” (ProQuest: SIRS Discoverer).
  • This is not true. Animals don't have emotions. They cannot be your friends. They just simply...
  • They have feelings, too. They are my dear friends and I know them. They understood things and felt happy and sad.
  • That's cool!
  • “In 1991, she began the Roots & Shoots program in Tanzania. It was created as a way to get youth involved in environmental concerns that affect their communities. The program encourages young people to identify problems and develop ways to solve them” (Gale In Context: Middle School).
  • You can save a whole community and be a hero just with planting!
  • WHOAH! I can be a hero.
  • Goodall Institute1977
  • “Jane established the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977. Its goals are to educate people about chimpanzees and other primates, and protect them and their environments”(ProQuest: SIRS Discoverer).
  • We will educate others for this good cause.
  • Together, we can make a difference for the chimps.
