We are introduced to the main character Scrooge. Scrooge is an angry old man who is mean and hates Christmas. He is invited to a party by his nephew and he declines and calls Christmas a humbug.
Scrooge is confronted by his deceased partner Jacob Marley. Jacob is a specter who is forced to wear chains that represent his former sins in life. He tells Scrooge that based on how he is living his chains will be much bigger than his. He also tells Scrooge he will be visited by three spirits

Scrooge is confronted by two of the three ghosts. The ghost of Christmas Past and Present. The Ghost of Christmas past shows Scrooge himself as a child and what caused his loss of happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Present shows him the current negative effects of his actions on other people. Both of these events make Scrooge realize he has to change

The final ghost shows Scrooge his fate that will occur if he doesn't change for the better. This scares Scrooge and he vows to change and be a better man. He would also be a nice person and care about others as much as himself.
Scrooge wakes up in his bed surprised. He was very eccentric. Also jumping with joy at the realization that he had ben given a second chance. So he set out to make things right with the people he had hurt the most in his life.
Scrooge pays back the cratchets. He also becomes like a second father to Tiny Tim. He then takes part in his nephew's party. He apologizes to him and reconnects with his family. He then goes on to be the most enthusiastic celebrator of Christmas. He also manages to include Christmas spirit into everyday life
