The first qualification to get elected is that you have to be a Canadian citizen and you have to be at least 18 years old. You also have to live in the municipal area that you are running for. It has to be 6 months before the election.

After youve met those qualifications then your name in the ballot, but before that you need to get nominated. In order to get nominated you need to complete official papers that give information about yourself and the names of the people that nominate you.

After i've filled out all my information i have to head to the municipal offices and pay a possible fee. After i've handed in my official papers i should be in the ballot.
