  • "Are you ready for school yet?", my mom yelled across the house, "The bus is here!". I hugged my mom and I ran outside. The bus was waiting for me. I can't wait for the first day of school in second grade! I got aboard the bus and sat on a vacant seat. I sat next this this other child. I tried to engage in a conversation with him by introducing myself. However, he didn't and just stared at me. I wonder what this school year has in store for me.
  • Paragraph 4
  • It was an awkward ride. The student I sat next to didn't say a word the whole ride. After about 10 minutes, we finally got to school. I went to my class which was 103b. When I got to class, we picked our own seats and the teacher took attendance. After that, the teacher introduced herself and we all took turns introducing ourselves. The teacher's name is Mrs. Wayer. We did a few activities such as coloring and some vocaublary. After a few hours, it was time for lunch.
  • Paragraph 5
  • Today was fun!
  • We went to the cafeteria and we had lunch there. I brought my own food and some other kids sat at my lunch table. They were curious about the food I was eating. "Why does it look like that and why does it smell weird?", one student said. I got embarrassed and I just packed up my food. Another kid walked to my lunch table, sat next to me, and introduced himself. "Why did you put your lunch back in your lunchbox? There's no reason to be ashamed of your food," I smiled and I took my lunch back out.
  • Paragraph 6
  • How was school?
  • After lunch we had recess. I played basketball with Michael. He taught me how to shoot a ball. "This is how you shoot," Michael said as he pushed the ball into the air, "Like that! Now you try!" I gripped the ball with both of my hands and I threw the ball into the air. I completely missed the rim. "It's okay, practice makes perfect!" Michael said. We kept playing until recess was over.
  • Nice shot!
  • "School's finally over!" I exclaimed, "Today was really fun!" We exited the school and went aboard the school bus. Michael and I sat next to each other. We talked and got to know more about each other. Michael asked, "Are you new to America?". "Yes, this is my first year here," I explained. After a couple of minutes, we got dropped off. We parted ways and bid farewell.
  • Yeah, it sure was!
  • I got home and my mother waited for me at the door. I hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. "How was school?" she asked. "It was great! We did a lot of fun activities and I made a new friend," I responded, "His name is Michael. He's very nice and I played basketball with him." I changed clothes and did my homework. I can't wait to go to school again!
  • It was fun! I also made a new friend!
